Senator of Naboo
When Amidala accepted the role of Senator, she probably never realized that danger her life would be in, or how her decisions could shape the universe so drastically. As the Seperatist movement rapidly grew stronger and there were more incidents of violence, many Senators called for the creation of a Republic Army. This bill was called the Military Creation Act. Senator Amidala was strongly against the measure, saying that if the Republic shows the Seperatists violence they can only show violence in return. She travelled throughout the Chommel sector, of which Naboo was a part, trying to convince people of this. For her unpopular message she was bombarded with negative comments from the local media.
It was the day of this important vote on which her ship was attacked and her decoy and six others killed. Under the protection of the nineteen year old Anakin Skywalker she returned to her home of Naboo in hopes of safety. When Anakin decided to go look for his mother she went with him, and when Obi-Wan turned up missing, presumed to be either captive or dead, it was Padmé who accompanied by Anakin went to save him.
She hoped to resolve the matter through negotiation, but her enemy, Viceroy Gunray, had other ideas. He demanded she be killed, and when she refused to join the Seperatist movement Count Dooku ordered her execution along with that of Obi-Wan and Anakin. She proved her valor once more at this Battle of Geonosis, the event that would mark the beginning of the Clone Wars.
After that battle she continued her campain for a diplomatic solution, insisting that peace was still possible. But in the face of war fewer and fewer would listen to her, and Nute Gunray put a huge bounty on her head, forcing her to remain mostly on Coruscant or Naboo. She continued to be protected by Captain Typho, and she rarely saw her husband, but four monthes into the war all this would change. Jedi Master Yoda was travelling with her and he sensed a disturbance of the Force. She travelled with him to the sacred Jedi temple on Ilum which was under attack.
As Palpatine's power grew and he began to take more and more power away from the senate Padmé found herself becoming more and more concerned. She began to fight for a more democratic government using all the diplomacy she could muster. She gathered pledges from other Senators to make up the Delegation of 2,000, and together they were openly and formally critical of Palpatine's behavior.
