Bits & Pieces

This section contains various things I've found relating to Padmé that I thought may interest people. Once I've accumalated enough certain 'bits' may be taken off this page and made into an entirely new section on Padmé.

Magazine Scan

This scan from the May 2003 issue of the Star Wars Insider is a part of an article entitled "The Ultimate Return of the Jedi Insider's Guide". As #79 on that list, it discusses the reasons behind Leia's memory of Padmé, and includes a quote from the Return of the Jedi novelization I found even more interesting. For those who have difficulty reading the scan, here is what it says:

'Lucas included Leia's vague recollections of her birth mother as a seed for the prequels. Recalled Lucas in 1997, "When I got to Jedi, I wanted one of the kids to have some kind of memory of her because she will be a key figure in the new episodes I'm writing." In the Jedi novelization, Leia's memories include "visions of running...a beautiful woman...hiding in a trunk."'

Trading Card Scan Trading Card Scan

These scans of an Episode III trading card gives us a lot of info (some stated, much implied) about Padmé's situation in Revenge of the Sith. While the subject of the card is more of Padmé's personal side, which this site doesn't focus on, it does give us an idea of the kind of emotional strain she was under during the movie. This is important because of the heavy weight she is already taking on do to the Clone Wars and other political issues.

Mistress of Education???

Credit for this 'rumor' goes to Obi's Girl from the Padme's Wardrobe forums. She found the following quote from the Completely Unofficial SW Encyclopedia:

'...the daughter of Anakin Skywalker and Padme' Amidala, and twin sister to Luke Skywalker, Leia was separated from her brother at birth in an effort to hide their potential Force-sensitivity. She and her mother were hidden with Bail Organa on the planet Alderaan, where she grew up in the political atmosphere surrounding an Imperial Senator. Leia herself grew proficient in the world of politics, and eventually became a Senator herself. Her mother became Alderaan's Mistress of Education, but died while Leia was still young.'

It is heavily implied here that 'her mother' means Padmé, and if so this is an interesting piece in the story of Padmé following Episode III, despite the fact of her death in the movie. While this site appears to be well documented, I'm still labeling it a 'rumor' until I can locate an official source that backs it up. Until then, there it is for consideration, and if anyone can help on the source I'd appreciate it!
